The article states that while most cities nationwide are posting job layoffs in 2009, the city of Austin has added 3, 300 jobs which is the largest growth in the country. More jobs in Austin translated to having a 3.37% employment growth compared to 1.3% in the rest of the U.S. And while the unemployment rate is at a national average of 8.6%, Austin’s is significantly lower at 5.8%.
